LwW Loves: Chanel's Morning Rose Nail Paint

One of my favorite nail paints, Chanel's 'Morning Rose'. Its perfectly delicate and goes with everything. That satisfies my criteria for an awesome nail paint color.

Hooked

Vintage hooks are great. They're good for hanging keys, pajamas behind the bathroom door and for decoration. I also use them to hold some jewelry and hats as well. 

Jewelry Hooks

I have a lovely jewelry box, but there are always certain pieces that you wear daily and others occasionally. So I took my favorite pieces and hung them on the hooks I've put next to the bathroom door and opposite the mirror. That way, its easy for me to either quickly pair them with the outfit or just hang them back and rush off. This way they don't tangle either (a problem I've had only when I have to rush!). 

Hat Racks

At first, I put the hooks up together as a part of a collection. While setting up my closet, I realized I didn't have a place to keep my hats. Not like I own too many, but I needed the shelf space in the closet for other things. So I decided to convert one of the longer hooks to a hat rack next to the mirror.

Foodie Fridays: Breakfast Muffin Sandwiches

Breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Right? It should make you smile in the morning. It should initiate the day's circle of love. Good brekka, happy you, happy surroundings. Well, mostly. 

We're making Muffin Sandwiches today, with a twist. I couldn't actually find English Muffins in my local store (Really, what's the point of making something if you can't find the ingredients in your local store!). So, I improvised. A much quicker and healthier option is to replace the English Muffin with Multigrain bread.

Ingredients:

For one sandwich:

• 2 Multigrain bread slices
• 1 egg 
• Grated cheese
• Hollandaise sauce (or Mustard or whatever else you like to accompany it)
• Pepper for seasoning
• Oregano flakes for seasoning

Tools:

• Muffin Baking Tray
• Round cookie cutter/glass bowl or tumbler 
• Oven 
• Cheese grater
• Your breakfast plate
• Cup of your favorite tea or coffee

Its THAT simple.

Method:

• Using the cookie cutter or the bowl, preferably the diameter of which is equal to or bigger than the diameter of a muffin cup, cut out circles from the bread slices and toast them in the oven. Add some cheese on top of half the slices and bake till the cheese melts. You can stick these in a hot oven (read 350 F or 180 C) for 2-4 minutes and they come out hot and crispy. 
• Meanwhile, crack an egg in each muffin cup (depending on how many sandwiches you'd like). Stick these in the oven as well for 15-20 minutes until the yolk is cooked through. (If you like runny eggs then cook between 10-15 minutes (depending on your oven!)
• Place the cooked egg on the cheesed slice, add a pinch of pepper and oregano flakes and pour some Hollandaise sauce on the egg, cover and enjoy!

LwW Loves: Cascading Braid

LwW Loves cascade braiding. Its quite simple and relatively quick (once you get the hang of it) and looks intriguing and amazing at the same time! 

To re-create the cascading braid, here's an attempt towards a tutorial:

• Try to comb out or straighten your hair a little bit so it doesn't tangle. Needless to say, if you're lucky to have straight or fine hair go on to step 2.

• Grab a big chunk over the top of your left ear and your parting and divide these in two for your top and middle strands of the braid.

• Take the remaining lock of hair behind your ear in your other hand. This should be the bottom most and longest strand that will go all the way around the back of your head. 

• Start with braiding these strands by taking the middle strand over the top strand. The top strand should fall over the bottom strand. This is so you can take the bottom and cross it over the middle strand that you've already braided. The result should look like the picture below where the bottom and middle strand cross each other in an X. The bottom strand should be straightened out to look like the top part of an X and the middle strand the bottom. (Phew!)

• Since you've left the top most strand hanging, take another chunk from the crown of your head (preferably a similar sized chunk so that you have about 5 to 6 top strands in your braid) and follow step 4. 
• Repeat with with all the top strands until you reach your right ear. Cross the middle and bottom strands twice to tighten your braid and use bobby pins to fasten the braid.
  Tip: Try using two (or in case your hair is as thick as mine, three) bobby pins and try to create an X. This way the bobby pins keep each other in place and dont undo. Use a third right through the center just to make sure.

The final product should look something like this:

I like keeping it on the side since its so hot and humid these days and keeps my hair timid. Otherwise it becomes a nest.
